Getaway Car - “All Time Low”

Posted in Uncategorized by aditya on May 14th, 2006

Getaway Car has arrived and it’s ready to burn rubber all over a cookie-cutter rock landscape. The four members, drawn together by a mutual love of pop music with a brain and “Snatch”(the movie), cite artists like Elvis Costello, the Pretenders, Cheap Trick, and of course the Beatles as primary inspirations. These cats know from melody and they lay it on thick with no apologies.

Band Members:
Todd Wright - vocals, guitar
Chris Reardon - bass, vocals
Matt Miceli - guitar, vocals

Maya Solovey - “In Time”

Posted in Uncategorized by aditya on May 14th, 2006

Young, genuine, and passionate for life, love, and truth. She produces pop music, with an eastern influence and a slight R&B flavor. Incorporating lush vocal layering, strings, Sanskrit mantras, sitar, and tablas to create a deep, earthy full sound, with melancholic undertones. Backing her up are her influences of great modern singer-songwriters, such as Coldplay, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Paula Cole, but she never fails to give her listener surprises, always keeping her music fresh, growing, and congruent with her own development as a young woman. Maya Solovey, a force to be reckoned with, now releases her new five-song demo, ‘Dissolving’. Watch out, world.

Hundred Year Flood - “Take A Chance”

Posted in Uncategorized by aditya on May 14th, 2006

Hundred Year Flood is like chicken ‘n’ dumplings on a cold rainy day. They play rockin’ americana music with original and thought provoking lyrics. Ahhhhh, they’re just what you need.

Hundred Year Flood currently splits their time beetween Santa Fe, NM and Austin, TX calling both places home. They have played all over the western U.S., and have toured in Mexico. The members are Felecia Ford (voice and keys), Bill Palmer (guitar and voice), Jim Palmer (drums), and Kendra Lauman (bass). They play southern-fried roots rock that ranges from beautiful folk-rock ballads to gritty, politically saavy country punk; from stark darkness to a frenzied twang.

Fire Bug - “Paradise”

Posted in Uncategorized by aditya on May 14th, 2006

Fire Bug creates something new and wonderful the way a splash of vermouth and a couple of olives adds a new dimension to a shot of vodka. Forged in the storied Wicker Park section of Chicago by vocalist Juliette Tworsey and guitarist Jules Shapiro, they began cutting their musical teeth at local Chicago venues like The Double Door, Subterranean, and The Elbo Room. They decided to make their way out to Los Angeles to hook up with the incredible talents of L.A. natives drummer Ty Dennis (21st Century Doors) and bassist Miiko Watanabe (Gwen Stefani). Since then, Fire Bug has become a part of the essential club scene and has created a niche playing unplugged sets at alternative venues. Whatever the venue, you can expect an energetic and charismatic show.

Band Members:
Juliette Tworsey - vocals, guitars
Jules Shapiro - guitars, keyboards
Miiko Watanabe - bass
Ty Dennis - drums
